K. Thoresen's Educational Portfolio
Personal Information
Welcome to my Personal Information Space!

I don't think that my portfolio would be complete without some information about who I am. I have lived in Woodbridge, Virginia for the majority of my life. Woodbridge is a part of Prince William County Schools and is located about 20 miles from Washington, D.C. Woodbridge is also home to Potomac Mills Mall, a huge one story outlet mall that attracts shoppers from all over Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.
I have not spent my entire life in Virginia because my dad was in the Army while I was in grade school. I have also lived in Crofton, MD, Newport, RI, and Ft. Greely, AK. My sister and I will always remember the trip across the ALCAN Highway in the backseat of our Ford Explorer. It was an amazing experience traveling over mountains and through towns, and ultimately to our new home in Alaska. Spending two years in elementary school in Alaska helped me learn about the environment and truly appreciate the lives of all animals, including the moose cow and calf that stood in my front yard drinking from our sprinkler early one morning.

My family has always been a huge support system for me. They are always encouraging and supporting my endeavors. Additionally, there are many teachers in my family including my great aunts and aunts, who are happy that I am entering the education field.
When I am not working on schoolwork, I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, watching comedy movies, visiting museums, and traveling. I love the beach, camping, hiking, and campfires.
Ultimately, I hope that I continue to grow each day as a teacher and that I learn new things from my students just as they learn new things through me.
